Wash-Care Guide for Banarasi Silk Sarees

Dry Clean Only
Always opt for professional dry cleaning to best preserve the silk’s natural shine, texture, and intricate zari weaving. Home washing should be avoided as it can weaken the fabric and reduce its longevity.

Washing & Drying
A Banarasi silk saree should only be air-dried if it becomes damp. Lay it flat in the shade and never wring or twist the fabric. Direct sunlight should be avoided, as it can dull both the silk and zari.

Ironing
Use only a low to medium silk-friendly temperature while ironing. Always iron on the reverse side or place a thin cotton cloth over the saree to protect the zari and maintain its luxurious finish.

Storage
For long-lasting beauty, wrap your saree in a soft muslin cloth before storing, as it allows proper air circulation and prevents moisture buildup. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to avoid fading. Refold your saree every three to four months to prevent permanent creases from forming along the folds.

Zari Care
The zari, whether gold or silver, must be handled with utmost care. Keep it away from water, sweat, and perfume to prevent tarnishing and ensure the threads retain their shine.

Chemicals & Spot Cleaning
Avoid harsh chemicals, detergents, bleach, or stain removers on your Banarasi Silk Saree. If spot cleaning becomes necessary, use only mild soap and ensure it is done with gentle care.
